          About the Studio . . .

I'm an experienced violin, fiddle, viola and beginning cello teacher and have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Violin Performance.  My business studio has been helping people "live their dreams" and realise their goals in music for over 12 years.  Though the numbers may be limited, there is still room for more!   The Studio has served 100's of students.  We are located in Yucaipa, CA at 12296 4th St. Apt. 4 92399 and in Riverside, CA at Free Methodist Church 8431 Diana St. Room 3 92504.  Check my schedule for available times and days.  You will need to schedule a free consultation, if you are interested in taking lessons.  Call or write the teacher at the email address and phone number above.

I've performed with many local professional orchestras and in weddings, plays, festivals and other gatherings.  My own CD "Rebecca Price, Just Fiddlin' Around" features classical and fiddle songs (it has sold over 100 copies). Click on www.musicaladvantage.com/profiles/missbecky57.  The audio clip is located midpage!

I believe learning classical technique is necessary for all students.  I teach classical method to all students, even those who are wanting to learn fiddle, pop, sacred, or any other style of music.  I use the Suzuki Method materials and philosophy with every age student.  And, if the student wants to learn other materials I try to incorporate all these things into their lessons as soon as they are ready.  We may learn "parts" of a song before learning the whole song.

While the majority of my students are most interested in playing classical music there is a great deal of music which can be played on string instruments.  Violin, viola and cello can all play any melody which is within each one's range.  I can teach classical, folk, European and American fiddle, popular, sacred, and other historic violin styles in addition to classical music.   I uphold musical performance to be so important to musical growth that we hold three Studio Play Parties and one Studio Recital each year.  The atmosphere at our performances is friendly, supportive, challenging and fun.  My students have performed in churches, coffeehouses, rest homes and community centers besides working in our studio performances.

Students range in age from 5 to 85 years old.  I believe that "Learning Music is Fun" and that "Everyone Can Learn" to play well.  Again, the studio provides certain performance opportunities called "Play Parties" three times a year and one "Studio Recital" per year.  I have many students who are active public performers and I have found many who would like to be.  Some very good students prefer to keep their performances limited to family and friends.  When we meet in a private consultation the student can tell me just what their goals are.  The consultation is without charge to the potential student.  Please visit our "The Students" page.

This summer I am offering reduced fees in both Yucaipa and Riverside studios.  Please visit the "Lesson Fees" page to learn more!

          My Background . . .

"I have leadership experience in many local orchestras and some nonlocal groups.  I have played and studied the violin since I was 9 years old!  Initially, I was trained in the Long Beach public schools.  To continue my studies I attended Johnston College at the University of Redlands.  I have played professionally in such local orchestras as the Redlands Symphony, University of Redlands  Chamber Orchestra, the Redlands Bowl Orchestra, the Inland Empire Symphony and the San Bernardino Symphony.  For three years I was a member of the American Youth Symphony, a wonderful training orchestra which still meets at UCLA in Los Angeles founded by Zubin Mehta's father, Mehli Mehta.   I was privileged to study privately with Mr. Mehta who is a marvelous teacher and conductor.  I was able to play under the great Sir Georg Solti in the Chicago Civic Orchestra and played under notorious conductors such as Aaron Copland, Jon Robertson, Carmen Dragon, James Guthrie and accompanied known artists in their concerts. 191815402xBwriA_th  I studied violin with several teachers, namely Mehli Mehta, Claire Hodgkins, John Golz, Janice Radford, Richard Ferrin, Fred Ohlendorf, etc..
