Becky began her music studies at age 9 in the  prodigious Long Beach Public Schools music programs, and has studied with great teachers from Long Beach, Redlands and BelAire, CA.  Richard Ferrin of Chicago Symphony led her in a workshop, and Mehli Mehta (Zubin Mehta's father) taught her and directed the American Youth Symphony, a professional training orchestra which still meets at UCLA .   By attending Johnston College, in Redlands, CA  Becky was moved from her hometown of Long Beach, CA.  She later earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Violin Performance in 1981.  She's enjoyed playing in orchestras which train and which are professional such as San Bernardino Symphony, Inland Empire Symphony, Redlands Symphony,Redlands Chamber Orchestra., where she fulfilled positions of leadership as principal chair or Concert Mistress.   Conductors she played under were the great Sir Georg Solti (conducting the Chicago Civic Orchestra), Mehli Mehta (conducting American Youth Symphony) Aaron Copland and Carmen Dragon (guest directors of Redlands Symphony), Jon Robertson, Claire Hodgkins.   She has also played in violin workshops with Chicago Symphony violist Richard Ferrin. She trained for 3 years in the American Youth Symphony of Los Angeles, a professional-level training orchestra for young adults which still meets and performs at UCLA in Los Angeles.  More recently she was Concert Mistress for The Yucaipa String Orchestra and performed as soloist with the orchestra.

She recorded her own first solo CD which features beautiful violin and fiddle styles of music.  Rebecca Price, Just Fiddlin' Around is available to listen to and buy through this site.  To listen to tracks from this CD, please click on www.musicaladvantage.com/profiles/missbecky57.  This brings up Rebecca's page with the audio clips located mid-page.

Rebecca performs freelance at social events including weddings, parties, festivals, art openings, funerals, church programs, senior gatherings, etc..

Her previous teaching experience includes 3 years giving group lessons for Yucaipa City Recreation and public schools.  In additions to teaching her own private music students, she taught beginning string classes at Dunlap Elementary School in 2000.  The Masons Lodge awarded her a Certificate of Merit that year, for her teaching accomplishments.

As a child and teenager she participated in Arrowbear Music Camp's programs. Arrowbear Music Camp (nestled between Big Bear and Arrowhead, California) was founded by Fred Ohlendorf, a very fond early violin teacher of hers and a leader in the very popular music programs through the Long Beach Unified School District.   He provided her with a great deal of support and inspiration during her early growing years as a musician, which was exciting and motivating for her.   She began her training in the  Long Beach public schools,  and  she went on from there to pursue music studies in college. She had several other teachers as a child and teenager, and benefitted from each one's unique experiences.  She is very grateful to all teachers and training orchestras whom helped her on her way!

It was because of these kinds of early learning experiences that Rebecca first came to love the violin at age 9 and why she encourages students to participate in groups and ensembles and to take advantage of new playing opportunities as they present themselves, including competitions, music camps, orchestras, ensembles and performances.

Her studio size is approximately 30.  She works with ages five to seventy five.  She meets with many students in her home as part of a time-honored tradition of teaching in a personal setting, not in what is often the "business atmosphere" of music stores. She teaches at her Yucaipa Studio, and Riverside Free Methodist Church.

You can also read newspaper articles published about her in The Sun, The Press Enterprise and the local Yucaipa-NewsMirror.
